She has held positions with Doubletree Inns, Inc; Westin Corporation: Washington Concessions, the Seattle Paramount Theatre and Seattle O.I.C. She has been a college district faculty member since 1984. She served as lead instructor at Seattle Central Community College Culinary Program 1984 - 1986.She actively augments her experience and education with a variety of graduate-level courses and industry seminars. Her works in progress are 24, 17, 12 & 7. She has completed college-level computer courses in 1998 and on-line training courses.

Michelle Kasim was the winner of the 1996 NISOD Award for Teaching Excellence.
